TrichiasisMisdirected eyelashes rubbing on and damaging the corneal surface
DermatochalasisExcess eyelid skin causing hooded appearance and visual obstruction
EpiphoraExcessive tearing caused by blocked or abnormal tear drainage system
DacryocystitisInfection of the lacrimal sac caused by blocked tear drainage

Sub-Service 3.1

Ocular Oncology

Eye Cancer Diagnosis & Surgery

Eye cancers and tumours — though relatively rare — require expert recognition, precise diagnosis, and prompt surgical management. Delayed diagnosis can result in vision loss, orbital involvement, systemic spread, or loss of life.

Tumours We Evaluate & Treat

1

RetinoblastomaMost common intraocular malignancy in children; presents as white pupil reflex (leukocoria); potentially life-threatening — urgent evaluation required

2

Uveal MelanomaMost common primary intraocular tumour in adults; can arise from choroid, ciliary body, or iris

3

Conjunctival TumoursSquamous cell carcinoma, melanoma, and papilloma of the conjunctival surface

4

Eyelid TumoursBasal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, sebaceous gland carcinoma, and eyelid melanoma

5

Orbital TumoursLymphoma, rhabdomyosarcoma, lacrimal gland tumours, and metastatic disease

6

Choroidal HaemangiomaBenign vascular tumour requiring treatment to prevent vision loss

7

Iris TumoursNaevi and melanocytic lesions requiring monitoring and biopsy where indicated

Diagnostic Approach

  • Comprehensive slit lamp examination and dilated fundus evaluation
  • Fundus photography and documentation for monitoring
  • B-scan ultrasonography for orbital and intraocular lesion characterisation
  • CT or MRI imaging referral for orbit and brain where indicated
  • Histopathological examination following surgical excision
  • Systemic workup and oncology coordination for malignant lesions

Surgical Management

  • Eyelid tumour excision with frozen section margin control and oculoplastic reconstruction
  • Conjunctival tumour excision — no-touch technique for corneal or scleral involvement
  • Orbital exenteration for advanced orbital malignancy
  • Enucleation for large intraocular tumours with prosthetic rehabilitation
  • Coordination with radiation and systemic oncology for comprehensive cancer care

Urgent: If you or your child has a white or abnormal pupil reflex in photographs, a rapidly growing eyelid lump, or sudden vision change with a visible eye mass — call 92096 57063 immediately. Early diagnosis is life-saving in ocular oncology.

Sub-Service 3.2

Ocular Aesthetics

Periocular Aesthetic Treatments

The periocular region is the most expressive part of the face. At Bhakti Netralaya, our aesthetic services are performed by an ophthalmologist with specialist training in periocular anatomy — ensuring safety, precision, and natural-looking results that honour the health of the eye above all else.

Upper Blepharoplasty

Surgical removal of excess upper eyelid skin and fat causing a hooded or aged appearance; also treats functional vision obstruction by dermatochalasis

Lower Blepharoplasty

Correction of lower eyelid bags, hollowing, and excess skin for a refreshed, natural appearance

Brow Lift

Correction of descending brow position that contributes to upper eyelid heaviness and a tired appearance

Ptosis Correction

Lifting of a drooping upper eyelid for both functional improvement and cosmetic rejuvenation

Botulinum Toxin

For crow’s feet, forehead lines, and frown lines; also used for brow shaping and non-surgical brow lifting

Dermal Fillers

Periocular volume restoration, tear trough correction, and temple hollowing treatment

Scar Revision

Improvement of periocular scars following injury or previous surgery for a more natural appearance

All aesthetic procedures at Bhakti Netralaya are approached with the same commitment to clinical excellence and patient safety that defines our surgical services. We take the time to understand each patient’s goals, set realistic expectations, and recommend only what is genuinely appropriate and beneficial.

Sub-Service 3.3

Reconstructive Periocular Surgery

Our approach combines meticulous surgical technique with thorough understanding of periocular anatomy.

Eyelid ReconstructionFollowing tumour excision — restoration using local flaps, grafts, and composite tissue techniques

Socket ReconstructionPost-enucleation socket reconstruction and prosthetic fitting to restore a natural appearance

Orbital Wall ReconstructionFollowing orbital fractures (blowout fractures) caused by trauma

Post-Traumatic Eyelid MalpositionCorrection of ectropion or entropion following facial lacerations or burns

Cicatricial ChangesCorrection of scarring from chemical burns, radiation, or previous surgery distorting eyelid anatomy

Symblepharon ReleaseCorrection of adhesions between the eyelid and eyeball surface

Anophthalmic Socket ManagementComprehensive care including socket rehabilitation, implant surgery, and prosthetic fitting coordination

Sub-Service 3.4

Lid & Lacrimal Surgery

Eyelid & Tear Duct Surgery

The eyelids and tear drainage system work together to protect the eye and ensure comfortable, clear vision. Disorders of eyelid position and tear drainage are among the most common reasons patients present to our Oculoplasty clinic — and are highly amenable to surgical correction.

Eyelid Surgery
Functional & Reconstructive
  • Ptosis RepairLevator resection, Muller’s muscle resection, or frontalis suspension depending on severity and cause

  • Entropion RepairCorrection of inward-turning eyelid; prevents chronic corneal irritation and scarring

  • Ectropion RepairCorrection of outward-turning eyelid; relieves chronic dry eye, tearing, and cosmetic concern

  • Trichiasis TreatmentSurgical repositioning or permanent ablation of misdirected eyelashes

  • Chalazion ExcisionSurgical drainage of persistent eyelid cysts that do not resolve with conservative treatment

  • Eyelid Laceration RepairPrecise layered repair of traumatic eyelid lacerations including those involving the lid margin

Lacrimal Surgery
Tear Duct & Drainage System
  • Probing & SyringingDiagnostic evaluation and treatment of lacrimal drainage obstruction

  • Endonasal DCRDacryocystorhinostomy performed through the nose — no external scar

  • External DCRPerformed through a small incision when endonasal access is not possible or has failed

  • PunctoplastySurgical widening of a narrow or stenosed punctum to improve tear drainage

  • Canalicular RepairMicrosurgical repair of torn or obstructed canaliculi

  • Congenital NLD ObstructionProbing for infants whose blocked tear duct has not resolved by 12 months of age

Key Procedure

Dacryocystorhinostomy (DCR)

The definitive surgical treatment for nasolacrimal duct obstruction — creates a new drainage channel between the lacrimal sac and nasal cavity, permanently relieving watering eyes and preventing recurrent infection.
